This Cookie Policy explains how The Conversion Berg uses cookies and similar technologies on theconversionberg.com. It should be read with the Privacy Notice. A cookie is a small file stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and scripts that remember a choice or measure a visit. Some cookies are set by us (first-party) and some by providers we use (third-party).
Why we use cookies
We use cookies to keep the site secure and working, to remember cookie-consent choices, and — only with the consent required in your jurisdiction — to understand how the site is used and to improve enquiries. We do not use optional cookies as a condition of submitting a genuine service enquiry. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop forms, login, or the consent banner itself from working reliably.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the service you request. They support TLS sessions, load balancing and CDN routing, WordPress login for staff or clients who sign in, CSRF and form-security tokens, and storing whether you have accepted or declined optional cookies so we do not ask on every page load. They are not used to build a marketing profile. Because they are necessary, they run without an optional-consent toggle, which is the approach PECR allows for cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.
Analytics cookies
If you accept analytics, we may load measurement tools such as Google services delivered through Site Kit or similar analytics tags. These help us see which pages are used, whether the audit form is completed, and where technical errors occur. Analytics data is used in aggregate to improve content and conversion paths. You can refuse analytics and still read the site and send an enquiry. Analytics cookies are not set until you accept them in the banner, unless a later visit re-confirms a stored choice.
Functional cookies
Functional cookies remember non-essential preferences, such as a dismissed notice that is not required for security. We use them sparingly. If a preference is essential to the page you asked for, we treat it as strictly necessary instead.
Advertising cookies
Advertising or retargeting cookies, if ever enabled, would only load after consent. At the date of this version our public site is not operated as an ad network. If we add advertising pixels later, this policy and the banner categories will be updated before those tags run for visitors who have not already consented to that category.
The consent banner
On a first visit we show a banner that lets you accept analytics or keep essential cookies only. Your choice is stored locally (for example in local storage under a key such as cb_cookie_consent) so the banner can stay hidden. Withdrawal is as easy as giving consent: clear the stored choice in your browser or contact us and we will explain how to reset the banner. Changing your mind does not erase analytics events already collected lawfully before withdrawal.
Browser controls
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse third-party cookies or to delete cookies when you close the browser. If you block all cookies, some pages may not remember that you already made a consent choice, and staff or client login may fail. Browser “do not track” signals are not consistently implemented across the industry; we honour the choices recorded in our banner and your documented privacy requests.
Duration
Session cookies expire when you close the browser. Persistent cookies last for a defined period or until you delete them. Consent records and security logs may be kept longer than the cookie itself, as explained in the Privacy Notice. Hosting and CDN layers (including StackCDN where used) may cache public pages; that is not a cookie on your device, but it can affect how quickly a page updates after we publish a change.
What we do not do with cookies
We do not sell cookie identifiers. We do not use optional cookies to make automated legal decisions about you. We do not load advertising networks on the public site unless this policy and the banner have been updated first. Staff dashboards and the client portal use additional strictly necessary cookies or storage for authentication; those are part of the service you requested when you signed in, not a marketing tag.
Updates after a deploy
When we change a tag manager or analytics property we update this page. Cached copies of the site at a CDN can lag; a query string or a purge makes the new banner text visible. Your stored consent remains valid for the categories you chose until you withdraw or we have to ask again because the purpose of a category has materially changed.
More information
For personal data collected through cookies, including transfers and rights, see the Privacy Notice. For marketing messages, see the Marketing and Consent Notice. For SMS, see the SMS and Messaging Terms.
Changes to this document
We may update this document when our services, tools, or legal duties change. Material changes are issued as a new version with an effective date. The version shown at the foot of this page is the current public text. A signed proposal, statement of work, or agreement remains governed by the version incorporated into that order unless the parties lawfully agree otherwise. Minor corrections that do not change your rights may be published without a separate email notice.
Governing framework
Contracts use the law of England and Wales as the primary governing framework unless the signed order expressly states another governing law. Mandatory local protections continue to apply where they cannot lawfully be excluded, including protections under UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, PECR, and, where a Canadian resident is involved, PIPEDA, CASL, and applicable provincial privacy law.
